Anxiety is closely aligned to stress, the feelings can be similar: often about unknown situations and different issues. It is difficult to be anxious about past events.
Commonly anxiety is considered to have two principal parts:
"Present time anxiety", which are concerns about events or situations which happening currently. Examples might be a threatening dog or person, a near-miss traffic accident, a fall on a icy pavement, etc.
"Future time anxiety", which are concerns about events or situations which will happen, or be likely to happen, in the future. Examples might include a scheduled driving test or other exam, an interview for an important job, etc.
